STATEMENT OF THE G-77 AND CHINA AT THE OFFICIAL LAUCHING CEREMONY OF THE WORLD
DRUG REPORT 2013 ON 26 JUNE 2013, DELIVERED BY H.E. AMBASSADOR MAHMOUD HASSAN

Mr. Chairman,
1. On behalf of the Group of 77 and China, allow me to express our great satisfaction at first official launching of the World Drug Report 2013 in Vienna. We convey our appreciation to Mr. Yuri Fedotov, Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for his efforts leading to the realization of this event here in Vienna.
2. We would like also to convey our great appreciation to our chairman H.E Ambassador GARCIA of Peru, for giving us this opportunity to speak at this important event. The group would like also to thank the Secretariat for organizing this event and for the preparation of the launch of the World Drug Report 2013
Mr. Chairman,
3. The United Nations headquarters in Vienna, which is the house of the UNODC and the INCB, welcomes every year the Commission on Narcotic Drugs, as governing body of the three conventions related to the World drug problem. Therefore, we encourage UNODC to continue in the future to present the World Drug Report here in Vienna.
4. While celebrating the International Day against Drug Abuse and illicit drug
trafficking, the G77 and China would like to reiterate actions against the world
drug problem have to be taken under the principle of common and shared responsibility
requiring an integrated and balanced approach in full consistency and compliance
with the goals and directives of the Charter of the United Nations and the pertinent
conventions.
