STATEMENT OF THE G77 AND CHINA AT THE TWENTIETH RECONVENED
SESSION OF THE COMMISSION ON CRIME PREVENTION AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE, 12-13 DECEMBER

Mr. Chairman,
On behalf of the Group of 77 and China, I would like to express our appreciation to the outgoing chair of the CCPCJ Ambassador John Barret from Canada. Under the excellent leadership of Ambassador Barret, the Commission adopted a number of important decisions at the twentieth session of CCPCJ. The Ambassador helped creating an atmosphere where it was possible to discuss important issues in a cordial atmosphere to reach compromises smoothly. Ambassador Barret also assisted the Commission in achieving consensus on themes and subthemes for the twenty-first session of CCPCJ, to be held in 2012.
Taking the opportunity, the Group would also like to express its appreciation to the members of the Bureau for their cooperation.
The Group congratulates Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol from Thailand on her election as the chair for twenty-first session of CCPCJ, to be held in 2012. The Group assures of its full cooperation to the chair and the members of the Bureau.
