Lima, 2 December 2013
Madam President, (H.E. Ms. Gladys Triveņo, Minister of Production of Peru)
1. The Group of 77 and China welcomes the adoption of the "Lima Declaration
towards inclusive and sustainable industrial development", which we consider
as a new milestone in UNIDO's history.
2. The Group is confident that the renewed political commitment reflected in this
Declaration will enhance UNIDO's role as the central coordinator within the United
Nations family on industrial cooperation matters and partnerships to promote industrial
development.
3. Bearing in mind the process of intergovernmental negotiations which will lead
to the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda and the urgent need of poverty
eradication, the Group renews its full commitment to UNIDO and reiterates its
belief on the potential of the Organization to continue assisting our States to
achieve a sustainable development. What is imperative now, is the effective follow-up
so that the momentum is not lost and our efforts remain continuingly relevant
and meaningful as we move into a period of consultations on the post 2015 development
agenda.
