Madame Chairperson,

1. I have the honor to speak on behalf of the Group of 77 and China. The Group welcomes the adoption of resolution 5/2, entitled "Implementation of the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children, supplementing the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime", where the Conference of the States Parties decided that the Working Group on Trafficking in Persons should continue to advise and assist it in the implementation of its mandate with regard to the Trafficking in Persons Protocol, as set forth in Conference decision 4/4. In this context, the Group wishes to reiterate its supports for the Working Group which provides a valuable forum for the exchange of experience and practices in fighting human trafficking as well as for providing recommendations to the Conference on how States parties can better implement the provisions of the Trafficking in Persons Protocol.

2. The Group takes note with appreciation the agenda of the Working Group, which encompasses important elements towards the full and effective implementation of the Protocol, with due attention to issues relating to trafficking in persons for the purpose of removal of organs and enhancing international cooperation in combating trafficking in persons, as well as addressing issues pertaining to supply and demand as well as capacity-building and awareness-raising. Madame Chairperson,

3. In our efforts to address the issues of "vulnerability" and "victims of trafficking, with particular emphasis on identification", the Group welcomes the United Nations voluntary trust fund for victims of trafficking, especially women and children and underscores the importance of integrating the principles of the United Nations General Assembly global action plan in a coordinated and consistent manner to enhance the international efforts to combat the scourge of human trafficking.

Thank you Madame Chairperson.
